Aquino III has just proclaimed Wednesday, July 22, 2015 as a Special (Non-Working) Day in the city! Therefore, #WalangPasok.

PROCLAMATION NO. 1058
DECLARING WEDNESDAY, 22 JULY 2015, AS A SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY IN THE CITY OF GENERAL SANTOS
WHEREAS, Wednesday, 22 July 2015, marks the commemoration of the Indigenous Peoples 1st B’laan Day;
WHEREAS, it is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of General Santos be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, PAQUITO N. OCHOA JR., Executive Secretary, by authority of His Excellency, BENIGNO S. AQUINO III,do hereby declare Wednesday, 22 July 2015, as a special (non-working) day in the City of General Santos.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

So what exactly are the pay rules for a SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY like this, July 22, in Gensan?
The following are the pay rules for special non-working days:
- “No work, no pay” policy applies, unless there is a favorable company policy, practice, or collective bargaining agreement (CBA) granting payment on a special day.
- 130% of salary that day if the employee worked WITHOUT overtime.
- Additional 30% of the employee’s hourly rate is paid if the employee worked OVERTIME. Computation formula: Hourly Rate x 130% x 130% x Number of Hours Worked). (Two 130% in the formula is NOT a typo error.)
- 150% of the employee’s salary that day if the employee worked on a special non-working day that also falls on his or her designated REST DAY without doing overtime.
