At first it was only Mitsubishi Philippines and Honda Cars hugging the limelight in General Santos, being the only sales and service centers of major car manufacturers in the city. Franchised by the Regollo Family, and the Ced Family respectively, their GenSan branches were their Japanese franchisors’ top dealerships in the Philippines for more than a couple of years owing to the warm patronage of the people of South Central Mindanao or Region XII.
For the rest of the owners of other car brands in the Tuna Capital, they would have to drive their vehicles to Davao City 150 kms away if they want them serviced by their respective official service centers located there. Or if they want to purchase vehicles other than the Mitsubishi and Honda brands, then the Durian Capital is the nearest place to visit.
Finally in October 2007, to answer the clamor from its numerous clients and prospective customers, Hyundai Philippines decided to construct and open their own along the National Highway a few meters away from Mitsubishi GenSan. No less than GenSan Mayor Jun Acharon led the inauguration of the new Hyundai Sales and Service Center-General Santos!
Then, a few months later, in May 2, 2008, due also to the city’s burgeoning population, it was the turn of Toyota Motors Philippines to open its franchise outlet along the same strip at the National Highway of General Santos. This time, its Davao dealer, Mr. Jose Lim also took up the reins of handling the dealership in GenSan, which he says is a project benefiting not only the city but the whole of Region 12.
This new investment totalled P120 million pesos and employed almost a hundred local hires. During its inaugural program, Mayor Jun Acharon thanked the Toyota bigwigs who were present at that time including Toyota Motor Phils. President, Mr. Hiroshi Ito, and Toyota Dealers Association the Phils. President Mr. Francis Castillo Laurel.
And now, more than a year after that, here is another car dealership whose owners have again acknowledged the soundness of investing in General Santos City and have joined the bandwagon of large multinationals which have settled here including Toyota, Hyundai, the just-opened Robinsons Mall, SM Malls and many more.
Welcome to GenSan, Isuzu Philippines Corporation through its franchise, Isuzu MTL GenSan Motors, Inc.
Here are photos of the Isuzu building which is now undergoing construction at its location along the National Highway in Barangay Apopong, a few meters before reaching Forest Lake San Carlos.
This is just the 3rd Dealership of Isuzu Philippines Corporation in Mindanao, following the ones in Cagayan de Oro (Cebu Southern Motors Inc) and Davao City (Southern Motors of Davao Inc).
kaylan ba ang opening ng Isuzu gensan?
you’re right white knight! more jeepneys other than 3cycles. there are taxis but only few. in addition regarding cleanliness in the city, there should be big garbage bins along the streets. gensan has big potential market for investors.
Big Boom Gensan!
@Toinks,. you’re definitely right toinks. dapat kasunod ng development sa city is our facilities and disiplina ng motorists sa gensan. The road signages is very important as well, dapat meron na bagong street signages that is visible especially for those who are not in this place, yung mga first timer for them to be acquainted immediately. I think our beloved tricycles will be re-routed soon in a place where they be most comfortable. Our main roads are congested already. We should have more jeepney routes to replace tricycle routes.
hay naku, oo nga padami na ng padami ang mga car showrooms sa ciudad. pero come to think of it, nagmamatch ba ang mga naggagandahang carlalu sa mga kalsada ng Gensan? naku ha may ibang streets sa lungsod eh parang sunka na sa dami ng lubak. Attention kaya sa mga officials…:D Plus improve and install more road signages and more traffic lights and implement traffic rules and regulations accordingly for a safer city road network at Magandang Gensan! 🙂 and please, kelan ba matatago ang mga tricycles? toink
More BIG TIME INVESTMENT…. Soon!
@morbanitoe: you mean the hybrid cars? whew! gonna love it..! some of it are not yet in productions like the fuel cells that has zero emissions. is it feasible to have those kinds of cars in Gensan? considering the road and climate conditions? and to think, fuel efficient/hybrid cars don’t come cheap and the maintenance is heavy for the pocket…ano’t-anu pa man, maubarato lang gihapon na in the future..damgo sa ta karon. hehehehehe!
Congrats and I hope they will also sell cars that emits less pollution and at the same time low in energy consumption and low in maintenance.
LOL!
@Fahdingding, thanks for pointing that out. 🙂
oo nga avel, u 4got HONDA, saka FORD hehehe…
sana merong van ang Isuzu…
ay sus naglangay langay man tingali ang Nissan og Ford. bahala mo…
Meron satellite Branch ang NISSAN Davao Inc. along J.CAtolico Ave. Maliit lang may display isang CAR!
It’s a good choice of location, commuters from Koronadal, Cotabato City, Tacurong City and other nearby municipalities of South Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat would certainly notice the display center of Isuzu. Kulang nalang ang NISSAN, to join the parade of cars display. Congrats and Welcome ISUZU Phils. to Gensan!
May Foton Showroom din pala sa may APOPONG!
What’s next for GENSAN after Mitsubishi, Honda, Hyundai, Toyota and now Isuzu? We’ll wait and see..SOON!
So, ISUZU Gensan pala yung tinatayo along Apopong Highway before sa San Carlos!
Ano pa ba magagawa ko e di iwelcome ang ISUZU…
WELCOME to GENSAN ISUZU…
Nice choice of location kasi crowded na masyado ang CBD ng GENSAN and I think it is high time for our city to create another CBD and APOPONG HIGHWAY has a good potential hanggang MAKAR (though classified as Industrial Area)…
Anyway, Umuusbong na talaga negosyo dito sa GENSAN at malalaking COMPANIES na ang nag iinvest! GO GO GO…
MAGANDANG GENSAN! PAdayon ang Paglambo sa atong syudad!
Karapat – dapat kang ICLAP! CLAP! GENSAN!
Madadagdagan na naman ang mga sasakyan sa Gensan, hirap na kasing mag-park, but that’s a good problem though 🙂
Gensan has really wowed multinational investors in the recent years. It’s natural topography, strategic location, hardworkng people, and investor-friendly legislations are a competitive advantage compared to other trade areas in the country.
No wonder that the “metropolis” state of development will shift from its usual territorial base in Luzon to our city a few years from now. And, we should be prepared for it.
.-= elmerceq´s last blog ..Venue of examination of GSC Junior Officials =-.
