The Tuna Festival Council composed of new members, led by Ronald Velasquez as Festival Director and comebacking Bebot Haw as Vice Chairman has just released the Tuna Festival 2011 Schedule of Events.
The Tuna Festival 2011 is the 13th incarnation of South Central Mindanao’s most famous week-long celebration and this time, it commemorates General Santos City’s 43rd Charter Anniversary which falls on September 5, 2011. The Tuna Festival also brings focus on the commodity which made General Santos City known all over as the “Tuna Capital of the Philippines.”
For this year, the Tuna Festival 2011 schedule of Events supplied to us by Mr. Ronald Velasquez is still not complete and will be updated on a regular basis. Still it will show you how some of the major events have been lined up this time from August 26 to September 5, 2011. Take note of the Mr. & Ms. GenSan 2011 activities and the National Tuna Congress, for instance. (Update: It is now more or less, complete.)
The theme for the 13th Tuna Festival approved by Festival Chair Mayor Darlene Antonino-Custodio by the way is “Exploring New Depths, Conquering New Heights”.
Here now is the Tuna Festival 2011 schedule of events, updated August 8, 2011. Click on the image for a larger, clearer view.

I was a bit sad how the festival ended last monday…frustrations swept the oval plaza…many Generals lined up the main thoroughfares eager to participate with the festivity….I dont know what went wrong with the preparations of the Float Parade, there was no clear information as to what time the parade will take place and the route it will to take…not to mention, was that Mr Glenn Gonzales at around past 5pm at the Plaza stage who said that in fifiteen minutes the float will arrive…..I thought he forgot to say it properly…it should have been 15 minutes and three hours….kawawa ang mga tao..lalo na ang mga bata….Festivity should end with a resounding fun and not with frustration…
wla bang lebreng kain..? hhehhhe

Kudos to the Tuna Festival Committee for including one of GenSan’s unheralded icons – PARAGUAY as one of the endorsers of this year’s festival
For having him endorse this year’s Tuna Festivals, raised the eyebrows of hypocrites particularly that one professor in MSU, why is it that Paraguay’s endorsement is such a threat to their learned mind?
To douse their ferocious ego, I suggest that one of participating teams for this years float parade to include PARAGUAY in thier Float..tan-awon nato kung dili sila mag asu-aso sa kalagot!
PARAGUAY is long been a POP icon in Gensan, prior to Shamcey’ taking home of the BB. Pilipinas crown and even Manny Pacquio ruled the boxing world!!!
Congratulations for a wonderful preparation for this year’s Tuna Festical, and I wish all Generals a peaceful and fun-filled celebration!!!!
Daghang Salamat!!!!
pwde, lagyan ng changes ang mga events? kasi halos pabalik-pabalik na lang ung iba eh…
