I first blogged about Microtel Inns and Suites establishing its foothold in GenSan three years ago (CLICK HERE to read it) in 2008 and followed it up with another article in March 2010 (CLICK HERE).
The news delighted most of our readers and the prospect of an international chain of hotels setting base in the Tuna Capital, was a very welcome development indeed. Up until now, many (including moi) have been hoping that the construction of its edifice will commence soon.
Now, I am pleased to announce that finally, Damosa Land Corporation, the franchisee of Microtel Inns and Hotels will be conducting its ground-breaking of what will now be known as MICROTEL GENERAL SANTOS, just behind the McDonald’s Drive-Thru Outlet along the National Highway.
The day? February 23, 2012, Thursday.
Check out the invite below.
The ground-breaking will gather members of the Floirendo Family, the owners of Damosa Land Corporation; officers of Microtel Philippines; together with GenSan City Mayor Darlene Antonino-Custodio and Congressman Jun Acharon of the first district of South Cotabato.
According to my source, Microtel General Santos will be a three-story affair and will be the flagship establishment in a commercial complex which will be constructed simultaneously with the hotel at the old Valley Motors Compound.
The complex will be patterned after Damosa Gateway in Davao City and just might be called Valley HIgh Street (similar to Bonifacio High Street in Taguig).
The whole complex will be built around the existing McDonald’s outlet and will include the vacant lot beside it next to the road leading to Munda Subdivision.
Microtel GenSan Suites however will look very much different from the Davao City branch and will feature within its grounds a garden promenade with water elements (fountains? water falls?).
It will have 60 suites and a 200-capacity function room suited for conventions, conferences and banquets.
Construction will take less than nine months, as related further by my source.
Hopefully, by November 2012, people will have more reasons to visit General Santos City once Microtel GenSan Suites and Valley High Street eventually open their doors to a very much eager and anticipating public.
GenSan, ikaw na!
