In celebration of National Heritage Month 2025, The Pioneers-Settlers of General Santos City, Inc; the Local Government Unit of General Santos City, through the General Santos City Tourism Council, and the City Economic Management and Cooperative Development Office (CEMCDO), is set to open the much-awaited Heritage Photo Exhibit 2025 this afternoon, May 26, at the SM City General Santos Atrium.
This year’s theme, “Preserving Legacies, Building Futures: Empowering Communities Through Heritage,” emphasizes the value of remembering our roots and honoring the stories that shaped our city.

The exhibit will feature a collection of rare and historic photographs of General Santos City, beautifully restored and colorized by local artist Glenn Alcordo Valdez, offering visitors a vibrant and refreshed perspective of the city’s past.
The official opening program will take place at 2:00 PM at the SM GenSan Activity Center, with key messages from: Dr. Leonard V. Flores, CESE, ENP, CEMCDO Head; Mr. Francisco “Tito” Santos, President of The Pioneers – Descendants of General Santos City, Inc.; Hon. Virgie T. Llido, City Councilor and Committee Chairperson on Tourism and Culture and the Arts; and Hon. Lorelie G. Pacquiao, City Mayor, who will deliver the keynote address.
Also included in the program are a special intermission number by Jojo Santos, the cutting of the ceremonial ribbon, and the exhibit tour to officially launch the display. The program will be hosted by Alvin Santos.
This meaningful showcase is a joint effort with The Pioneers – Descendants of GSC Inc., the History Department of Mindanao State University, and Cronasia College of General Santos City.
Special thanks to SM City General Santos for being the official venue for the second year in a row, and to Glenn Alcordo Valdez for his masterful work in bringing old photos to life.
