In an older post here at Bariles Republic, we featured The Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage Parish and her Tahanan ni Maria Photo Exhibit, which is a joint venture with the GenSan Camera Club. The Exhibit which will be held in a later date will feature the 30 + 4 BEST PHOTOS taken from a gallery submitted by the club’s members and will be included in the OLPGV 50th Anniversary Commemorative Book.
Bariles is proud to present all these 34 photos, which a panel of judges picked out from the more than 100 photos submitted by GCC. Five of these photos has been judged as the TOP 5 BEST and will be announced during the first day of the exhibit sometime in March 2009. They will each receive P5000 and a Token of Appreciation from OLPGV Parish.
In relation to that, Bariles Republic is running a POLL for the Bariles Republic BLOG READERS CHOICE Award. Just VOTE for your BEST PHOTOGRAPH at the end of the article by leaving a message with the name of your choice. The name of each photo will appear once you hover your CURSOR over them. 🙂
Deadline for voting for the Bariles Republic BLOG READERS CHOICE Award is on February 28, 2009.
Your choice winner for the Bariles Republic Blog Readers Choice Award will receive P2500 and a special token from Bariles Republic’s GenSan News Online Magazine.
To the TOP 34 Qualifiers from the GenSan Camera Club, good luck! Now do some marketing on the side and promote your photos among your friends, fans and families. 🙂
And yes, do check back for more updates. Or better still, subscribe to Bariles Republic with your EMAIL ADDRESS and do not miss a single update from now on.

Magandang Gensan!
Let me take this opportunity to thank everyone!
Our viwers… for your effort to choose and give your reflective comments and observation. I agree with you how beautiful are all those pictures. They were actually 87 entries from 16 participants. Last January 14, 2009, the judges coming from the different walks of life it found difficult to select the five best pictures after choosing 30 qualifiers.
Our judges… who responded to our invitation despites short notice.
The Gensan Camera Club (GCC)… who were really serious and gave much impact in showing how rich our parish in arts and religiousity.
Most of all to our very accomodating and wild thinker friend behind the Bariles Republic’s Gen San News Online Magazine… your ideas is helping a lot to promote our objective to publish a commemorative book on the occasion of OLPGVP’s golden anniversary.
Thank you so much to all of you in giving our Parish this golden opportunity. Truly Gensan is so beautiful with richness in culture, talents, arts, attitudes and personalities. All our beautiful pictures speak your richness and goodness… Generals. I salute you!God is so good. God bless!
Watch out for “The Tahanan ni Maria Photo Exhibit” in KCC sometime in March. That will mark the launching of the OLPGVP Golden Commemorative Book.
@Joel Glenn – another purist 😉 hehe

Congratulations to Bariles, OLPGV & Gensan Camera Club for organizing this once in a lifetime photo exhibit of OLPGV parish.
Sir Bariles, I believe that this is not purely a photo exhibit kasi parang photo contest na rin ito. Correct me if I’m wrong.I just hope that choosing the top 5 will not be influenced by this “readers choice” votes. If we look at the perspective of photography kasi, may mga powerful photos here like “A CHILD’S PRAYER” & “GOD IS WATCHING” which can mesmerize the reader (obviously dahil daming votes) maybe due to its visual impact. For the owners respectively of these beautiful images, please wag kayong magalit sa akin. Hehehe. Peace!
For the readers, obviously ang una natin nakikita is and ganda ng photo. We will assess also the photo if pasok ba sa theme na “Tahanan ni Maria”.
Well, kaya nga readers choice award kasi karamihan (hindi lahat ha) naman dito sa readers sa blog ni Sir Bariles are technically illiterate sa photography. Kasama na ako dyan. Feeling photographer lang noon during the heydays of film cameras. hahahaha.
For me, I’m voting for (equally best 3 for me):
1. “Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage”- Very nice panorama of the church.I love it.I haven’t seen a picture of the interior of OLPGV na ganito kaganda. professionally done.
2. “Spirits”- I guess this is a slow shutter shot. Ang hirap nito kahihintay ng right exposure.Ganda din ng angle. Very artistic. Parang andaming nangyayari sa harap ng camera nito when the photo was taken.Picture perfect.
3. “Native Kakainin”- Panalo ‘to sa composition. This is not a usual sight sa OLPGV. Simbang gabi lang to nangyayari. Pang post card ‘to.
Congratulations!
Magandang Gensan!
Joel G.
@Joel Glenn, thanks for your comments. The TOP 5 Best Photos were decided upon by a panel of judges a week before these 30 + 4 photos were made public here.
Meanwhile, this “Bariles Republic Viewer’s Award” is simply just that, the search for #1 top choice of the readers here, who definitely know what they think is the “best” for them. Bahala na sila. I trust their judgments.
And yes, they’re here to not only to participate and ogle but have fun at the same time, too.
Magandang GenSan po! at Salamat muli. 🙂
JOHN 3;16 Mganda pagkapaliwanag ni Teo. Maraming
“For God so loved the world that he gave His only Son…” Tanggapin natin si Jesus sa ating puso!
Lahat sila magagaling! Congrats.
kudos to the people behind the lenses… you did a fantastic job… these are magnificent works of art… 🙂
my choices are:
* knock and it shall be opened unto you
* solemnity in light
* house of our Lord
congrats to OLPGV on their golden anniversary…
cheers!!!
Congatulations to all the photographers who made it to the top 30+4. It takes real talent to make it to the top among the more than a hundred entries! Mahirap talaga pumili. Lahat magaling. My votes:
1. Two Christmasses! Very well done. Real professional.
2. A Child’s Prayer. Captured innocence. There is eye contact. Truly, children have a special place in the Kingdom of God.
3. John 3;16. Plain and simple but tells us a story of our faith and salvation. I agree with Nida, there seems to be interactions there. More symbols: Water, crucifix, confessional, stairs going up. Made me read John 3;16.
My one and only choice is DAYBREAK..Pinsan ko nag capture nyan =) Vote nyo naman please! =)
