I have heard reports from some insiders of SM City that their branch here in General Santos will not open in time for the Kalilangan Festival in February 2012. Nor will it open on April 2012 too.
The latest news is that the unveiling of SM’s biggest mall in Mindanao is on June 2012, which is still almost six months away from today on reasons that only the developers know.
Not a few of my friends were disappointed upon hearing this piece of info. Most of them are very excited at setting foot inside what is one of the most modern malls to be built in these parts of the Philippines and couldn’t wait for its eventual opening.
Personally, I don’t mind if SM GenSan opens up much, much later. This gives owner Mr. Henry Sy along with his son, Hans, and their people more time to ensure that the mall is structurally sound, secure and safe for the people of the region.
And when they really open their doors to the expectant Soccsksargenians, the whole mall will be very much ready to serve their needs along with their tenants which hopefully will fill up 90% of the building’s rentable spaces by then.
Good luck SM City General Santos!

@iLaugh…or baka ikaw ang tanga!? huhhahaha
Pag sure uie!
Nothing more.
Nothing less.
Ano sa tingin mo ang SM? just another mall that people go to? It’s SM. The biggest mall company in the Philippines.
we are not in a hurry nman para di ntin kayang hntayin ang sm gensan,,,ang mhalga nag invest ang sm prime holdings sa gensan,,,that is one of a sign that not only mall ang kayang i invest ng sm prime holdings dto sa lungsod,,pati real state later,,papasok na dto,,,we must be thankful generals,,,dhil ang mga giant malls in luzon,,ay unti unti ng nag evolve dto sa lungsod…
@Rammyboi, thats sooo not SM. hahaha
Let’s be happy with the idea that SM is already doing its best to cater services for the Generals. If it will take time to construct, it’s fine. As the famous proverb goes “Great Things come to those who wait”
Just happy that I’ll be a part of the SM family soon. Special thanks to Mr. Bariles and GandaEverSoMuch. ^_^
That’s a promise ^_^
Because of 2012 First Quarter is the impact of Crisis so we have to know and keep saving our money so that in case emergency we can somehow handle on it. Like what happen first quarter of 2009. That’s a good initiative of management to postponed. Anyway its just there and awaiting its door to open for us and Socsksargen shoppers.
Speculations, speculations and speculations. Well if that is the decision of the management then who are we to object? Do we own SM? They just want to put everything in place. We just have to be patient and wait for the best for in time and before we knew it SM is already around the corner.
LOL
take your time……………………………..
nganung mag dali man.,kita man cguro ta nga wala pa nahuman no? :]
Ok lang… SM is just around the corner…
GO! 😀
“more time to ensure that the mall is structurally sound, secure and safe”??? I don’t understand…
Are they telling that this has something to do with that incident at the parking building?…ddduhhhh!
May retrofitting bang nangyayari ngayon sa mall mismo? Baka naman wala pang tenants. hehehe
