What used to be known as Notre Dame of Dadiangas for Girls and now as the Notre Dame of General Santos City is transferring to its new home.
Administered by the Congregation of the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena, NDGSC’s school campus along Biateles Street will be turned over to the parish of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage under the Passionist Community who given them the permission to use it since it was established in the 60s. (The Notre Dame of Dadiangas University on the other hand, is run by the Marist Brothers.)
Now nestled in a 5-hectare property in Purok Masagana, Barangay San Isidro (formerly the site of Dole Stanfilco’s banana plantations during the last century), the new Notre Dame of Gen. Santos City boasts of an imposing 3-story u-shaped building comprised of over 30 rooms.
When I dropped by for a look-see last weekend, I was immediately impressed with the size of its building and with its location at Barangay San Isidro. This barangay has lately been enjoying a boom in the number of subdivisions and private villages being developed.
This could be the reason why over the years, GenSan’s new schools have been establishing campuses in GenSan’s upper suburbs (specifically Barangays San Isidro and Lagao) like Quantum Academy (in 2nd Barrio Lagao), Shalom Crest Wizard Academy (in Block 8, City Heights), Gen. Santos City National High School (Aparente Avenue, Purok Malakas), and SPED Annex (2nd Barrio, Lagao), not to mention the smaller Nursery and Kiddie Schools.
Even the campus of Notre Dame of Dadiangas University’s High School (of the Marist Brothers) has transferred to Lagao effective this new school semester. (Read all about it here.)
(This post is offered to the girls of the former NDDFG HS Batch 78, from us, the boys of the former NDDC HS Batch 78. See you during our JOINT PEARL (30th) ANNIVERSARY BATCH REUNION on May 3 and 4, 2008!)
The Front Gate of Notre Dame of GSC
The facade of the new Notre Dame of GSC.
The back portion of the ND GSC building.
A fountain at the courtyard behind the building.
St. Catherine of Siena, St. Dominic and the Blessed Virgin with baby Jesus all waiting to be transported to their new placements inside the new campus of the Notre Dame of GSC.

this place is cool!!
It’s been a long time to hear from my old school… Nice to visit this blog. Have a nice day!!!
wow, this is a welcome change. the old campus has become dilapidated. I walked by the street that straddled the pateros home and the nddfg campus one time. beatiles st. is a little dead now, unlike before when it was bustling with students. i hope the new campus will still have a chapel (to replace the cathedral and parish center). suggestion: maybe they should just expand OLPGV church so it wont look so built over like it is right now.
can they check the grammar of what was printed on the tarp? nddfg had a great language and writing program (at par with ateneo grade schools.) so better check those tarps.
guys..in case u have the numbers ..please please don’t hesitate to txt it to me…at 09209170585

Wow…
I havent thought about my alma mater in General Santos for a long time. I left NDDFG in 1995. I think I just finished first year high school when I had to transfer to another city.
Pati pala uniform nagchange? I used to wear the green skirt and white blouse with the green ribbon.
I miss my old school and the creepy scary movies we love to make up about our school…aah, younger days. I remember the library both high school and elementary…of course St. Dominic Hall…and the slide near the elementary comfort room that was condemned when I was in elementary.
As I am writing this, I could actually see my old school.
On the other hand, the new location looks better. Aaah, memories are really for those that are gone.
this is a much better site… mas conducive for learning.
ormans last blog post..nakakapagod.
Thanx to this blog site one of my classmate happened to browse and we did have a conversation now… but i was wrong with Notre Dame of Gen Santos thinking it is my school in Lagao. I am confused that time but anyhow it helped me find my schoolmates …you are talking about the school in the metro dadiangas.NDDFG.(.sorry fo that)…because of so many changes i dont know which is which.
but thank you again …. more power to the site
mas malaki parin ang elem.. building sa NDDU-IBEd ..4 storey-and 40 plus rooms…
Hello!
I’m Senior Student from NDGSC.
And I was like looking for news about our
new site. And I found this.
True!Our school is nice.
More facilities and bigger field.
And to tell you, our population
increased.
We have just finished our Family
Rosary Crusade today.
But I’m still missing our old site.
The noise of the city.
And pioneer, especially.

Ahhh impressive! Ganda ng disenyo.
Oo nga pala, google brought me here. Gensan- where my heart is hehe. 🙂
Thanks,
Anah
im proud to be a part of it
I echo lovelylovely sentiments. I feel like I lost a big part of my past. Although on the other hand, I know that moving to a better location and building a bigger school can only mean good things for the sisters for all Dameans and future Dameans.
Congratulations for this huge growth! More power!
I am now working as a nurse and planning to go abroad, but due to changes in school name and address I get confused where to follow up my old school records. In, addition the hospital is going to conduct a background check on my academic history and possibly going to talk to people (from the old school), will it matter if there are changes made?
…. By the way, I still see some of the Dominican Sisters from the old days. They often come to the hospital for checkup and hospitalization.
It has been 13 years since I left NDDFG campus. I remember the big grotto over the fishpond and the quadrangle where all the pupils and students line up for the flag ceremony and daily rosary.
….. Who could forget the long walk from the second floor building just to answer nature’s call and that big bulky bagpack when you climb the steep stairs.
I wish I came back sooner to bid my old mother farewell.
@Bang, don’t worry. The buildings will still be there. The parish will use it for their adult skills classes, catechism classes and the like. Thanks for visiting Bariles Republic! 🙂
Amen to that cecilia!!!!! apapa
i wasn’t that happy. i’ll miss the old NDDFG. i hope they wouldn’t destroy the buildings. and i hope to visit the old campus after i graduate college.
hello undercoveragent! it was supposed to be named notre dame of sienna or something to that effect. i dont know why it didn’t push thru. Thanks for dropping by! 🙂
maricar, thanks for your comments! indeed, gensan is booming fast! 🙂
nice school .. im an alumna of siena school of marbel .. sna ung name ng school is may “siena” na name para maging known rin xa besides being a notre dame school .. but the building was nice .. 🙂 siena trademark talaga ..:) kasi walang paint .. like in other structures of siena college of polomolok and siena school of marbel .. it was nice to see our sister school improving ..:)
viva SIENA !!

Hi lovely! Actually, kami ring taga-Boys have happy memories of your school. Dalas kami tambay sa may church trying to peek inside. When are you gong home?
Hello Cecille! It’s really a better location than the old one. No more sounds of traffic. No more smog. Behind the campus are rows and rows of corn. Nice di ba?
Sunshine, once you see the school you will be amazed at its size. Eventually, you will feel at home am sure. See you soon!
why is this like this? parang i feel sad that our old school is not there anymore.. ahay… i’ll visit the old one this friday when i get home. and for the kids to see…
last time i was there was april of 1988!!! now i won’t miss it.. visit ako talaga.
Am glad my alma mater has transferred to a more conducive for learning
environment. Halleluiah! Ave Maria!
