I came upon a Peace and Prayer rally last Friday at the oval plaza organized by Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil Society and the Rajah Buayan Regional Management Committee.
Although it was already high noon with the scorching heat of the sun beating their backs, the group of about 500 hundred Muslim men and women rallyists opted to stay and listen to the Peace Rally speeches of their leaders and sectoral representatives.
Drawn to the colorful sight of their multi-hued traditional garb, I took it as a chance to train my lens on the Muslim women who were there to support the cause of their husbands, sons, fathers and male family members. What I got were these pictures.

genuine peace is what we really need. i might not be there.. and presently confine in a relatively peaceful and orderly place -makati city – but my heart bleeds as always when images of conflict ridden mindanao comes to life since all of us become victims (direct and indirect) especially the women and children. your roving lens avel make us more conscious of our women kababayan’s call for peace in a legitimate manner. it stirs in each of us to contribute in our small and great ways (you have done your part very well and hopefully immerse yourself in it and as usual infect us to be more participatory…). sustainable peace and development can only occur when the actions become concerted in a community. showing us these fotos of peace women advocates who momentarily left their different post – home managers/engineers, mothers, widows, workers, daughters and children – to unite and work for transformation feeds our hunger for genuine peace. bombard us more of peace efforts right in the heart of our hometown to wake us up and continue bearing the torch for peace building and firming it up for our generation and the next ones!!!!
