On Saturday, October 25, 2014, all roads lead to the Leyson Hll Park in Barangay Mabuhay in General Santos City as its scenic Nopol Hills play host to a much-awaited event meant to drum up interest on environmental concern and awareness, “KATKAT NOPOL”.

Katkat Nopol, “Kaktat” meaning “climb” in Cebuano, is a trek/camp-out/concert/party-in one activity that should cater not only to the outdoorsey types and environmentalists but also to those partyphiles who want to experience a different kind of fun.

katkat2There is an entrance fee of P100 for every participant that will be collected at the gate of the Leyson Hill Farm, which is only 10 kms. away from Jollibee along Mabuhay Road.  From the main entrance of the farm, they can start the 3.5 kilometer easy trek farther up the property on Nopol Hills which offers a good view of Sarangani Bay and the surrounding mountain ranges.

Here, they can pitch their own tenst, buy their provisions at the various food booths and convenience stalls, attend an ecology-focused meetup, go biking, try horseback riding, fly a kite, learn lassoing or ride a carabao-drawn sled, among other related fun activities.

katkatAt dusk, this is where the real party begins as acoustic bands will begin providing the music that will segue to the dance party as the night deepens.

Or if you just want to relax and take in the beauty of the lights of General Santos City below and the cool Sarangani Bay breeze from up where you are, go ahead.  If only for that, you’ll realize in no time that joining Katkat Nopol 2014 is one of the best weekends you will ever have.
