This blog post from GenSan News Online Mag is dedicated in honor of the over forty innocent victims of the senseless carnage which happened yesterday in Ampatuan, Maguindanao, in Central Mindanao.
Some of them were people I know and a good number were friends of mine from the media here in General Santos City. I could only cry in anger for what happened to them at first, but eventually I realized that I must pray for them instead and the families they left behind. Please pray with me.
I also urge you dear readers to pray for our land Mindanao which is once again tainted with the blood of innocent people…. and for the perpetrators of this barbaric act to be immediately brought to justice.
And while we are all waiting on how government will respond to this, please display a black ribbon in your blogs, Facebook profiles or wherever possible online, in remembrance of the Maguindanao martyrs and as a sign of our collective shout as people of Mindanao, “NEVER AGAIN.“
Our justice system can be summarized by borrowing the line used in the movie of “LAW ABIDING CITIZENS”:
“It’s not what you know but what you can prove in court”.
how could they do this to my friend?

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh
’til now, i really can’t imagine why they did this demonic act….as the days of investigation progresses, more bodies are found..
these perpetrators should be burned in hell.. they are not worthy to be called FOLLOWERS of PROPHET MOHAMMAD (peace be upon Him)……ALLAH will do justice on their souls….
i feel so much anger with these people…..
Can all of us unite and request from any benefactor to create a monument for the 57 victims on that burial site? Please, we must let all generation remember what happened.
[…] Don’t forget to place the above pictured ribbon on your blog to show your unity with the people mourning about the Maguindanao Massacre, as suggested by GenSantos.Com […]
I’m still horrified on the scene of this gruesome crime! Nanlulumo ako because there was a car belonging to the city government of Tacurong na nadamay din sa patayan…these city government employees were on their way to Cotabato City…nagkataon na napasabay sila sa convoy nina Mangudadatu. I was dumbstruck when I saw the photos earlier and immediately called a friend of mine at Tacurong City Hall…and it is confirmed…innocent civilians…and probably the ones that I’ve bumped into during my thesis days…kahit syudad na ang Tacurong, most of us still know each other by family name.
Although I’m far away from Cotabato, the event shook me to the soul not only because of the degree of the monstrosity that those bloody barbarians (and I guess we all know who are the suspects now) who killed women and children, but also Cotabato as a whole personally is something very personal and dear to me…
As a tribute to the Maguindanao Martyrs, I’ll display the black ribbon later tonight or tomorrow.
I’m still shocked, horrified and numb…but padayon kita sa pakig-bato para sa hustisya sa mga ginbiktimahan!
By the way, I’ve posted something in light of recent events. Feel free to comment, thanks!

To all Muslims (Only by NAME) who are responsible for the “MAGUINDANAO MASSACRE…
Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said:
“O men, what I say to you, you must hear and remember… All of you are equal. All men. whatever nation or tribe they may belong to, and whatever station in life they may hold, are equal.
Even as the fingers of the two hands are equal, so are human beings equal to one another. No one has any right, any superioity to claim over another. You are as BROTHERS.
So has Allah made the lives, property and honour every man sacred. To take any man’s life or his property or attack his honor, is as unjust and wrong.”
may your soul rest in peace kuya ian “idol” subang
HUSTISYA! MAG AMPO TANG TANAN….
With this tragedy.. hope it will end here.. no more journalist and innocent people will die in a senseless and barbaric way.. Justice..justice..justice..
This is a very unfortunate event and i condole with the victims especially to my friend CYNTHIA OQUENDO … sad to say but i think mindanao has no hope for peace with these blood sucking animals roaming around us.
You will be missed Cynthia an may you find peace as you enter the realm of our Lord !
[…] the stress and depression most of us have been undergoing after news of the massacre of the Maguindanao Martyrs came […]
Today is the National Day of Indignation for the MAGUINDANAO MASSACRE!
JUSTICE! JUSTICE! JUSTICE!
Asus!
Wala ng ginawa kundi payamanin ang sarili at the expense of the people!
senseless!!! being a media practitioner for close to six (6) years, i am saddened by this tragedy… let us pray for the families of the martyrs, as KUYA AVEL calls them… let us pray for justice… and let us pray for peace…
May God help us…
Condemn the Ampatuans!
Grabe ang ginawa nila. Nakakahindik isipin. Mga walang isip ang gumawa nun. Mga hindi matitinong tao!
when will this violence ever stop?!… we put blood, tears, hardwork promoting mindanao ang yet are are those who ought to destroy it… i find this very sad, humiliating, disgusting, fatalistic in nature!.. aren’t they sick and tired of these stupid things?
are they uneducated? all they think is power in order to stay in status quo? God! I pray these persons responsible will be brought to justice! and well atleast apply the rule of thumb! if not ironfist..
I know few of them. Let us pray for their souls and peace in Maguindanao.
May their souls rest in peace. Where is Justice?
Sad moment in the history of our dear land, Mindanao! It’s very unfortunate that people of the same culture and religion or even those who are affiliated by blood have to resort to killing one another in the attempt to grasp power and glory at the expense of those who may be in the underdog or in hapless situation. When will these greediness and thirst for power end! May God bless us all!
NOW PRAYING!
As a Muslim,I always pray 5x a day…And It is now my duty to include the victims of “Maguindanao Massacre” and their families in my prayers! INSHAALLAH!
Peace be upon us ALL!
Definitely, GMA should do something to address this!
At least ngayon may action na ang pamahalaan through the proclamation of “STATE OF EMERGENCY” sa Maguindanao, SK at Cotabato City….
I’m praying that JUSTICE will be served soon! Inshaallah!
Dapat bitayin yang mga AMPATUAN!
indeed, it’s a very sad incident. abominable..very repulsive..! lagi na lang may ganyan sa Maguindanao, long before pa…clan vs. clan. law enforcement agencies sana naman wag ng magbulag-bulagan pa.
Another “DAGGER” in the heart of Mindanao! Kelan ba matatapos ‘to?
errata:
Madam President, please do your part as commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines!

I am too was shocked to hear the news yesterday. Let’s pray that these senseless killings will open the mind and hearts of all concerned parties and the truth and justice will prevail in this unforgetteable history of our media friends and brothers/sisters in Maguindanao massacre.
that’s a heart-breaking incident. our hearts go out to those victims and their families. may they achieve justice.
I am in shock! And i was down crying for our friends in the media…I’ve worked with them and they are my friends..Incomprehensible! I heard the news last night but it was only after i read the names of the casualties that i learned that these are my friends! I grieve for the women journalist in particular, i remember myself in them…They are just doing their jobs…I will miss Bong’s kakulitan…Let us pray for them.. Dear Lord, please take care of them and their families…
I personally will be surprised if justice is served in this case. I hope it happens, though.
WE mourn and pray for all those innocent souls who were victims of brutal killings…
May God in Whose Hand is Power and Control of all creation, grant salvation to the departed souls and strength to the surviving to bear the loss and punish those who perpetrated the heinous act!
i pray that our traditional political leaders will now wake up and appreciate the loveliness inside them, so that they will feel affection for Maguidanao…
black ribbon for all the innocent victims…
black ribbon…
posted as a shout to every network i am connected with.
will do sir avel
I’m sorry for your loss, my friend.
The massacre in Maguindanao is a challenge to all of us to forge on with our mission to expose the truth, as it is the objective of the perpetrators to instill fear in us. We should not allow the Ampatuan killers to get away with this heinous and barbaric crime! We should not let the deaths of the innocent go without justice!
I cannot imagine that in this modern times, barbaric acts like that still previal. As a Davao resident, I pray that this carnage will not be seen here. I can only cringe in fear as I see these warlords infiltrate the city and bully peace-loving Davaoenos.
I am one with the nation in condemning this despicable act. I also enjoin every peace loving Filipino to stand up for justice. Let us not allow these criminals thrive and spread terror in the country.
The main problems of that province are: political dynasty, poverty, insurgency, kidnapping and many more.
Madam President please make your POWER NOW!
‘senseless killing jud of innocent people!
yes, what we can offer is our prayers…at sana matauhan na yong mga walang pusong gumawa nito…sana matakot sila sa Diyos sa mga ginawa nila…at sana wala ng ganitong pangyayari na kumukurot sa ating puso…
