Generals and most notably, Dameans should be truly proud these days because another compatriot is on the national spotlight!
Atty. Gerard Mosquera, a member of Batch 82 of the Notre Dame of Dadiangas University HS has just been appointed as one of the three new commissioners of the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) by President Noynoy Aquino.
Atty. Mosquera who placed second in the 1992 Bar exams after graduating from Ateneo Law School with honors, will be reporting to PCGG Chairman Andres Bautista. Their office has been tasked to recover for the government the ill-gotten wealth of the Marcos Family and their cronies.
The young lawyer who is married to Dr. Myra Nissa Pahm-Mosquera, a dentist, with whom he has four children, has just been awarded last May 25 the 2010 Lucius N. Littauer Award for Academic Excellence and Leadership from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. The award is the highest recognition granted by the Harvard Kennedy School for exemplary academic achievement, public service and leadership.
Gerard recently graduated with a Master’s in Public Administration degree and was among the top five percent of Harvard Kennedy School’s Class of 2010 composed of almost 600 students coming from 80 nations. The Harvard University JFK School of Government is the leading institution for specialized training for leaders in government in advancing public interests and welfare. [quote1]
Before this, in 2002, as a recipient of the Chevening scholarship, he got his Master in Laws degree from Kings College, University of London.
All his life, Atty. Mosquera has been active in anti-corruption work. Before his appointment to the PCGG, he has been holding the position as chief of party of the USAID’s anti-corruption programs in Timor-Leste since 2005.
Prior to that, he was also the technical adviser for anti-corruption to the United Nations Mission of Support in East Timor. Here in the Philippines, he had a short stint as a director in the Office of the Ombudsman. Really, really impressive huh?
Born and raised in General Santos City by his doctor parents in their Kadulasan Street Residence, Atty. Gerard Mosquera, who graduated at the NDDU was also a former president of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines – Soccsksargen Chapter which, I must say reveals a lot on how much his local peers also look up to him even during the earlier days of his stellar career.
Take a bow, Atty. Gerard Mosquera and continue to make us proud!

Wow! Another GENERAL!
Congrats SIR!
Congrats Gerald! we are so proud of you.. Adapted member din yan ng MSU-HS Batch 82 coz he is a friend to many of us. 🙂
Very proud to hear that Atty. Gerald been appointed by Pres. Aquino as one of the 3 PCGG commissioners. A true raised General is quite worth celebrating. Though I’m pretty sure NDDU & Marist community are humbled by his appointment I think the Marist brothers are in high spirit because what they envisioned to produce good leaders in our country are not wasted.
By the way Atty. Gerald is a classmate of one of my elder brothers wayback in their elementary & high school days and also our neighbor. Like any typical neighbors, we are not that close. He is a consistent honor student & top of their class always. I thought being his No.2 in the Bar exam was already a feat but it did not stop their. Congratulations and may you continue to make us proud by your undying true service and brilliant contributions for good governance in pursuit of political change in our country. Mabuhay ang mga Generals, Dameans and Ateneans!!
Wowwww galeng galeng naman ni Kuya Gerard!!! I have always been so proud and fascinated about his achievements and humility. I still remember playing in Dr. & Dra. Mosquera’s house when i was still a tot! I met him through our “specialist medical center” days when my mom was an attendant to Dr. Chu. He was very makulit and he use to make dimples cry a lot?!…lolz I reckon that it was very sad day to hear when Dra. died before Gerard’s face was featured Front-Page in i think 4 top rated newspapers in the Philippines when he came out 2nd in the sensational 1992 Bar Exam. I remember it was something he promised Dra. Mosquera while she was recuperating back then. I even stayed late just to watch him being interviewed by Loren Legarda now Senator on her late night investigative reporting show back then about his recent lead in the bar exam. KUDOS Kuya Gerard! Congrats on your appointment as commissioner and you are truly one of a kind General!!! Mabuhay Ka!!!
What a waste of general’s talent!!! He should be our congressman, our senator, or maybe our future Philippine President…
Anyway, Congratulations! And may you make your mark at PCGG and be not wasted or be corrupted by your peers…
Congratulations Atty. Gerard, I was once your client, thank you very much!
Congrats! proud to be Generals..
