The 2010 Tuna Festival was formally opened last night by GenSan City Mayor Darlene Antonino-Custodio at the Oval Plaza stage in an awesome show of talents, colors, music and dance.

The two hour spectacle which introduced to the public the finalists of the festival’s major events like the 12 street dance contingents of the Mardi Gras Street Dancing Competition, the 20 candidates of the  Mr. and Ms. GenSan pageants and the GenSan Pop Idol Talent Search also launched the music video or MTV of the new official theme song, “Whoa GenSan!“. Whoa GenSan!” is a composition of the Centerpoint Band and the  “Whoa GenSan!” MTV is a collaboration of the newest video production house in the city, Royale Iris Studio and the GenSan Tuna Festival 2010 eXperience Organizing Committee, headed by Festival Director Orman Manansala.

The video features the members of the Centerpoint Band performing the” song in various landmarks of General Santos City.  Watching it for the first time last night was an exhilirating and uplifting experience for the generals as Director Heintje Fernandez was able to weave together images of the city’s source of pride and identity with the outstanding on-screen performance of the exuberant Centerpoint who gave life to the song’s catchy lyrics.

The 3-year old Centerpoint Band is composed of Deane, Julius, Keith, Avery, Joshua and Densho.
