Bariles was again a judge during last Saturday, May 14, 2001’s Search for Tropicana’s Bikini Hunks & Babes 2011. Now on its 12th year, the pageant has undoubtedly grown to be one of the most anticipated brawns-and-bodies competition in South Central Mindanao every summer. For this year’s incarnation, Bariles is happy to say that it is the best-staged so far.
The set though simpler is more massive than the past years since the stage was moved to a bigger area. Although some spotlights malfunctioned during the competition cum fashion fusion show, the concept ala the Broadway musical “Burlesque” wasn’t lost on the spectators.
The pacing was quick – there were no introductions and silly question-and-answer portions because hey, this is a BEAUTY & BODY CONTEST so we don’t need to pick-on-your-brains kind of thing!
Kudos to Director Ezequiel Laurente and his crew and to RD Hotels head Maybeline Almaden and staff Liza.
It is also important to note that the male contestants vying for the Dolores Bikini Hunks title this year are taller and have better-defined bodies than the past pageants. It was quite a task for the judges led by Chairman Bariles, Ms. Clara Fernandez (wife of PBA legend Ramon Fernandez), Han Kintanar of Freeman Cebu, Davao’s top fashion designer Janna Caringal and two others more to pick out the winners since majority could be the grand champion.
