SM City GenSan has just signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the local government unit of General Santos donating the drainage system they are constructing right now to the city.
The drainage system which will cost SM GenSan P52.5 million will traverse Santiago Boulevard and will serve as the pathway of their treated wastewater up to the Sarangani Bay.
SM City GenSan is also constructing their very own WASTEWATER TREATMENT FACILITY to ensure that whatever outfall is released at the Sarangani Bay from the mall is already free of bacteria and other life-threatening micro-organisms.
This was one of the conditions imposed by the administration of Mayor Darlene Antonino-Custodio before they finally agreed to grant SM City GenSan a tax-break of seven (7) years.
SM City GenSan will reportedly open in February 2012 and has in fact booked all 45 rooms of Sun City Suites on undisclosed dates during that month.

Actually theirs no extra ordinary about commenting positive about Gensan developments because every individuals whether resident in this city or not, have a responsibility to promote his/her place wherever they are. At least in a very small way we have done our part to make our place liveable & competitive and we could be proud of. That should be our attitude.
Totoo jud baya kuya! Since first time pasok ko dito.. na HOOKED na talaga ako… My day isn’t complete pag wala ako nababasa galing sa’yo at kay Kuya ORMAN…
YOU TWO ARE THE BEST AND GREATEST BLOGGING DUO ON THE PLANET… 🙂
It all started with BARILES’ efforts… Before, people here in Gensan and abroad were almost indifferent or worse, IGNORANT about what’s happening in our city but look at us today, we are all proud GENERALS contributing in our own small little ways to make GENSAN known to the other ends of the world.
And I have to admit that my LOVE for our city was awakened only after I’ve encountered BARILES in the net…
MABUHAY KA BARILES! I
@fahdingding, awwwww! Thanks for making my day! Comments like this make me want to cry… promise! 🙂
And another thing is I would like to commend our LOCAL CITY GOVERNMENT for having this conditions specified & attached in lieu of SM CITY-GenSan tax break incentives. This is really a huge contribution. So what’s else Mr. Bariles that SM & our local gov’t forge that we didn’t know? hehe.. thanks
Nice breaking news Kuya Avel. What’s so good with this social network of Mr. Bariles is every details of our city’s development are properly disseminated, that’s why everyone is upbeat of whats happening in our city. Very good!
Good to know that SM City Gensan (I dont mind if others used their monicker or not-its no big deal really) has this major project as their concrete contribution to our ever growing drainage problem in the city. Hopefully our city gov’t would adapt what SM management started along Santiago Blvd drainage system & use it in our other flooded areas before major incidents will happen. Thanks SM City General Santos.
Mabuhay SM CITY GENERAL SANTOS!
SMGS loves you Bariles!!!
Thank you for posting this Sir A. We are more excited to serve the Generals very, very soon!
By the way guys, the official Name is “SM CITY GENERAL SANTOS”. (For your reference)
God bless and MAGANDANG GENSAN everyone! 🙂
owkie… that explains the “tax-break of seven (7) years”….. cheers! keep posting good news about the city. (“,)
Indeed very good project
Guys, thanks for pointing out the glaring error I made. It really is P52.5 million pesos! I was in a hurry to beat my 3pm deadline before my RSS feeds gets distributed that I mistakenly put in P5.2 million only. Sowee. Tao lamang. Stressed pa jud. Daghang salamat for being patient with Bariles. I love you all.
akala ko P 52 million yung project/
Wew..
can you elaborate more on the “tax-break of seven (7) years”?
if it refers to all form of taxes that should be collected by the city government, don’t you think its too long? nonetheless, I think the ripple effects would augment for taxes forgone… still, Magandang GenSan! (“,)
Is it only 5.2 million or 52 million???
Stop calling everything by ‘GenSan’ when the situation calls for General Santos. It’s SM City General Santos, not SM City GenSan. Robinsons Place GenSan is Robinsons Place GenSan because that’s what they named it.
