MANILA, Philippines — August 22, 2025. The Department of Education (DepEd), under Secretary Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara, has sealed a major partnership with Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC) and the Jollibee Group Foundation (JGF) that will strengthen the Senior High School (SHS) curriculum and provide new classrooms for Filipino learners, including those in Sarangani Province.
During the ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), the partnership announced the introduction of a Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) Curriculum for SHS. This industry-aligned program is expected to better prepare students for future employment in the fast-growing food service sector, in line with the directive of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
50 Classrooms by 2028 — Starting in Sarangani, Cebu, and Mindoro
In parallel, the Jollibee Group Foundation committed to constructing 50 classrooms nationwide by 2028 to help reduce the country’s classroom backlog. The initiative will begin with six classrooms across three pilot sites: Mindoro, Cebu, and Sarangani, with construction starting in 2026 and continuing through 2028.
“This classroom building project is a key part of the Jollibee Group’s 50th anniversary celebration in 2028 and JGF’s 20th year this year,” said Gisela Tiongson, President of JGF. “Our vision is to help create learning spaces where every child, teacher, and community member can experience the joy and power of education. By investing in both programs and physical infrastructure, we contribute to a more empowered and resilient generation of learners.”

A Milestone Collaboration
Secretary Angara emphasized that the project reflects DepEd’s commitment to enhancing both educational access and employability:
“Learners in underserved areas like Sarangani will not only benefit from new classrooms but also from job-ready skills through the SHS QSR curriculum. This collaboration with Jollibee shows the power of public-private partnerships in building a brighter future for our youth.”
DepEd extended its gratitude to JFC, JGF, and their subsidiaries for supporting Filipino learners, stressing that the initiative aligns with the Bagong Pilipinas vision of providing greater opportunities for every child to learn and succeed.
“Sa Jollibee, bida ang saya para sa bawat estudyanteng Pilipino!”
