More than a week ago, on February 23, 2012, the much-awaited ground-breaking of Microtel Hotels and Resorts in General Santos City eventually pushed thorough.
Attended by bigwigs of Microtel Philippines and officers of Damosa Land, the simple event became even more memorable with the presence of GenSan City Mayor Darlene Antonino-Custodio who thanked the investors for putting their trust and confidence on the city.
For their part, ANFLOCOR Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ricardo R. Floirendo committed to make Microtel Hotels and Resorts GenSan one of the crown jewels in GenSan’s burgeoning tourism industry and with the hotel chain’s formidable network all around the globe, will help promote the city as an emerging destination in Southern Philippines.

From the design shown to us, Microtel GenSan will have 3 floors housing 66 rooms/suites. It will serve as the centerpiece of the Valley High Street, a commercial arcade much like the Floirendo’s Damosa Gateway in Davao City. Currently, McDonald’s has an existing 24-7 Drive-thru outlet in the compound.
Construction of the commercial center project will cost more than a hundred million and will commence this month of March. It will take all of nine months for Microtel Hotels and Resorts GenSan to be able to open on November 2012.
Designer for Microtel GenSan is renowned Architect Luis Juan J. Nakpil.
Now that’s definitely world class for General Santos City’s first international hotel chain!
