[dropcap]G[/dropcap]enerals, rejoice!

It’s gonna be a long four-day weekend for the City of General Santos starting today, August 29, 2015, Saturday!  Aside from August 31, 2015, Monday being a holiday due to National Heroes Day, they could also look forward to another holiday, on Tuesday, September 1, 2015!

Malacanang has just released Proclamation No. 1117 declaring Tuesday, September 1, 2015 as a Special (Non-working) Holiday in General Santos City.  This was due to the request of the Sangguniang Panlungsod of the Tuna Capital to declare it as such, in place of September 5, 2015, the actual 47th Charter Day Anniversary of the city.

With this development, the 17th Tuna Festival that commemorates the city’s charterhood will be formally opened on September 1, 2015 and will allow more people to attend the revelry and celebrations at the Oval Plaza.  This place will be the site of the Opening Program and the converging point of the highly anticipated TUNA FLOAT Competition, preceding a parade through the city’s major thoroughfares on the same day.
