[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Commission on Election is aggressively pursuing its campaign for “No Bio, No Boto”, a mandatory biometrics for voter’s registration that started last 2014 and will end on October 31, 2015. In order to establish complete lists of voters with complete biometrics data for the May 2016 national and local polls, the law provides that registered voters whose biometrics have not been captured shall submit themselves for validation.
To provide easy access and convenient way for biometric registration, COMELEC partnered with SM Supermalls for the venue. This partnership aims to provide alternative registration area in the mall for the public.
The Region XII COMELEC scheduled “No Bio, No Boto” at SM City General Santos on September 21, 22, 28 and 29, 10:00am to 5:00pm at The Event Center. According to Atty. April Mitchor, the election officer of the city, six percent of the total voting population which is around sixteen thousand voters of General Santos has yet to apply for validation of registration records.
All applicants for biometric registration are required to bring one photocopy of any government issued ID or a photocopy of Birth Certificate.
COMELEC is urging all the voters of the city to validate their biometrics. This will be their last schedule to conduct the “No Bio, No Boto” in the mall. Registration of voters for May 2016 election is only until October 31, 2015.
