Just got word tonight from the contractor of Starbucks GenSan at the SM City General Santos that the coffee shop is slated to open on September 20, 2012!

The first time I heard about this date was from another SM insider last week who didn’t want it announced yet.  Then a few minutes ago, I again got the same info from a guy who has a friend hired as one of Starbucks’ first barista trainees in GenSan.

Meanwhile, its contractor is set to turn over the finished project to Starbucks management tomorrow, Sunday, September 16th and have cleared out all the glass wall covers to give passersby a clear view of what’s inside.

Starbucks actually occupies the best spot at the ground level of the Al Fresco strip of SM City GenSan being located at the farthermost corner of the building.  Its three sides all glass walled, it gives diners inside an expansive view of the fountain area and San Miguel street outside.

STARBUCKS GenSan will be the company’s first store in Region XII and the third in Mindanao.  Its opening at the Tuna Capital confirms the message to all that indeed, GenSan’s time has come and is well on its way to joining the big league of metropolitan cities in the Philippines.

See you at Starbucks GenSan, generals!  And yes, thank you SM City for making this happen.
