Prometheus has once again made Western Visayas proud, securing two prestigious awards at the 2024 Marketing Excellence Awards Philippines. The first and only award-winning marketing and public relations agency in the region took home silver trophies in Excellence in Anniversary Marketing and Excellence in Urban Guerrilla Marketing.

Both awards were earned for “Marking Ilonggo Stories,” the agency’s campaign for Daily Guardian’s 22nd anniversary. This campaign featured ten uniquely crafted markers placed across Iloilo City and Iloilo Province.

Each marker contained a headline, a lead, and a hollowed-out section where passersby could view the subject of the story, as these were placed at the actual locations where the reported events occurred. The markers included a QR code directing individuals to a dedicated microsite featuring the full story that provided deeper context. The selection of the marker’s locations were based on Daily Guardian’s 22 years of historical and cultural significance, ensuring that each marker resonated deeply with the local community.

The “Marking Ilonggo Stories” campaign resulted in an impressive 26.4 million impressions on Facebook, while the campaign’s digital strategy boosted the Daily Guardian website visits to a staggering 311,000. By placing these markers at locations where news events actually occurred, the campaign drew the attention of approximately 22.4 million viewers to the stories they depicted. It made the city itself a living archive of its own narratives, engaging pedestrians and turning casual strolls into interactive learning experiences.

Prometheus was the only agency in Western Visayas to be honored during the awards ceremony held at Shangri-la The Fort, Manila on August 15, 2024.

Judged by an independent panel of 21 client-side marketers, MARKETING-INTERACTIVE’s Marketing Excellence Awards is the premier platform for brands to showcase their marketing prowess across the Philippines. The awards recognize top-performing campaigns with Gold, Silver, and Bronze trophies, celebrating excellence in strategic marketing, innovation, and execution.

“While most campaigns addressed relevant pain points, the top performers stood out due to their exceptional strategic marketing capabilities, innovative approaches, and effective execution,” said Carla Christina Cruz, head of marketing and communications at Amway, and one of this year’s judges.

Last year’s Marketing Excellence Awards saw Prometheus CEO and Daily Guardian Vice President External Lcid Crescent Fernandez make history as the first Ilonggo to win Marketing Leader of the Year. Prometheus was also the only agency in Western Visayas to be nominated in the Excellence in Public Sector/Non-Profit Marketing category for its “Bugal sang Kwarto Distrito” campaign for the Fourth Congressional District of the Province of Iloilo.
