I just gathered from Engr. Rizza Paces of the City Engineering Office that the local government, upon the approval of Honorable City Mayor Darlene Antonino-Custodio is gearing up for the next phase of its Traffic Lights Signal Sytem Project after the ones at Robinsons and Makar Junctions.
To read about the first two phases, CLICK HERE and HERE.
To commence construction next quarter are three systems along the National Highway fronting the Notre Dame of Dadiangas University main campus.
These three are at the National Highway-Roxas Avenue, National Highway-Aparente Street and National Highway-Pendatun Avenue.
In just a matter of time, this Traffic Lights Signal System project will undergo bidding and hopefully, will be awarded before the first quarter of 2012.
After this, the National Highway-Mabuhay Road Traffic Lights Signal System will follow suit… making General Santos City the only one in South Central Mindanao with nine traffic signal systems by the end of the year! Yey!
NO.1 – D
Very nice. Let’s see if this will ease the traffic.
I think traffic lights alone will not alleviate traffic congestions in these three bottle-neck intersections…a FLYOVER is needed.
i think much better tlga kung may pedestrian overpass jan sa harap ng nddu.. for it to be able to cater the students and other pedestrian jan n area without the hassle n mgtrigger pa ng traffic sa mga motorista ntn.. remmber that is also part of the highway so expected ang volume ng vehicles jan sa tapat ng dame campus plus dagdag pa mga pedestrian n nga.cross. mxadong abala sa mga motorista.. mas safe dn sa mga pedestrian yan jan..
tapos kung may pedestrian overpass na, dpat lagyan ng median border sa gitna ung kgya ng median border sa may palengke banda pra la tlga may mgcross n pedestrian sa gitna to be safe also n walang ma.aksidente pra mg.attempt n mgcross without using the overpass.. marmi ksi pasway dn n kht may overpass pipiliin pa rin nla tumawid sa highway which mkikipagpatentero n sla sa mga sasakyan in full speed due to traffc sgnal system sa jucntions… kudos to Gensan Officials.. Magandang Gensan!@ (^_^)
ang tanong lang pud kung gamiton, halos sa mga tao ang overpass, at first siguro gamiton pero when da time comes basig gamay na ang muagi sa overpass. kay gikapoy nag saka tapos baba daun.
all traffic signal system in Gensan has a study po, my vehicle classified traffic count po ginawa, travel time survey, pedestrian count and other survey. in this study, pedestrian overpass is warranted..
in putting pedestrian overpass, there must be a study also pra d masayang pera ng gensan. koronadal has pedestrian overpass but sad to say walang gamit, sayang pera nila.
@rrrr, National Highway / Roxas and National Highway Pendatun lang ang lalagyan ng traffic lights, there will be a median island along the national Highway so NO LEFT TURN to and from the aparente street. there will be a SERVICE ROAD on both sides for loading and unloading of passengers / students since NDDU gate is along National Highway and for the exclusive right turn lane, National Highway is now for THRU TRAFFIC ONLY ……. and a PEDESTRIAN OVERPASS too!
puro na traffic light sa GenSan…pansin ko tayo lang yung City na walang overpass….dapat yun yung i-proposed nila soon…atleast safe ang tawiran ng tao.
Bakit ganun nangyari ? hehehe
Avel musta? I hope the city government can speed up the diversion road from Katangawan to New society before this national hgihway can become so congested. Do you have any news of this?
This diversion road can really ease up the traffic for Marbel bound vehicles from Davao and vice versa without passing this national highway and also trigger the economic growth of the upper part of Gen San.
I think YOU as a very influential person now in the city can bring this matter up to the city planners. Thank you very much and blessings on all your endeavors.
Yey! This is great news for the generals! Traffic lights are long overdue at Aparente-NDDU-Notre Dame intersection.Well, better late than never as my granny always told me. Two-thumbs up.
Thanks for the news Avel. Haven’t listened to Bombo radio for quite a while. Your site is a great alternative to early-morning radio. 🙂
Hahaha. magkalapit lang yung 3 junctions, if mangyari parati nalang hihinto every junction.
WOW!
