[dropcap]L[/dropcap]ooking forward to the 19th Tuna Festival, generals?  Finally the Philippine Fishport Development Authority, the organization tasked to oversee this year’s iteration of General Santos City’s most famous festival, has released the official Tuna Festival 2017 Schedule of Activities.

The Tuna Festival 2017 will officially open on September 1, 2017 and proceed up to the end of that week, culminating with the National Tuna Congress, on September 6-8.  Take note that a separate Fishfest sa Fishport 2017, at the Gensan FishPort Complex will also be happening simultaneously.

The Tuna Festival used to commemorate the city’s Charterhood Anniversary but it has since been moved to its official date in June, starting this year. So I still have no info as to whether September 5, 2017 will be declared a local holiday.

Take note of the other major events from their Official Posters below..

The 18th Grand Fish Fest sa Fish Port.

The official theme this year is “BIDA SA SAYA, BIDA SA TUNA”, which I find quite lame personally.  Just hoping that everything turns out great though.  Let us celebrate the bounty of our seas generals, while they are still here!

Happy Tuna Festival, everyone!
