The day that practically most of Soccsksargen have been waiting for is here – the Grand Opening of the region’s newest and most anticipated mall – the Robinsons Place General Santos City!
Slated to open tomorrow October 5, 2009 (Monday) to showcase its flagship stores, the Robinsons Department Store, the Robinsons Supermarket, the Handyman and Robinsons Appliance Center, the management of taipan Gokongwei’s biggest investment in Mindanao has made sure that it will be their most star-studded inauguration ever!
Tasked to host the 11am Grand Opening Ceremony tomorrow at the Activity Area is former MTV VJ and current host of the ABS-CBN morning show, “Umagang Kay Ganda“, Donita Rose.
Donita’s job will be tough because not only will the “generals” be there to witness how she handles this much-awaited event but also dignitaries from Manila.

The entourage could include the owners Robina Gokongwei-Pe and her brother Lance Gokongwei. Bariles is not certain though if their old man will be there. Ms. Robina (to whom this chain of malls were named after) was here last year during the baptism of Manny Pacquiao’s daughter Queenie and Bariles was even able to chat with her. (Read the Post by Clicking here.)
Together with Ms. Donita Rose and to serenade the who’s who of GenSan invited to the Grand Opening Ceremony is balladeer Christian Bautista who just released an album of Jose Mari Chan’s songs.
Later on, at 3pm fans will have a chance to MEET and GREET Ms. Dawn Zulueta at the Robinsons Department Store.
An hour later at 4pm, Kapuso star Yasmien Kurdi will also delight shoppers at the Robinsons Supermarket.
But that is not all, generals!
Next weekend, we will all have our hands full ogling at the presence of Derek Ramsay on October 10 at 4pm and Ms. Iza Calzado on October 11 at 4pm.
Wow! Bariles can’t wait for these events to happen at Robinsons Place GenSan and he is pretty damn sure that you too are much excited as he is.
In fact, he is betting his two balls that he will see you there!!!!
[…] wait It took them two years to follow their lead but KCC Mall of GenSan has finally joined Robinsons Place in the list of malls offering FREE WIFI to its shoppers in the the Home of […]
[…] Yes, dear readers. You read it right. Geoff Eigenmann, a Kapuso talent will be in General Santos City for a mall show at Robinsons Place GenSan. […]
high fives white knight and bravo!
@ white knight and cristina: Amen to that! i think i’m vindicated of being an antagonist..
hehehehehe!
i agree with you bravo. kaya kng sino man yong mga negosyante dyan mag invest naman kayo something different naman something entertaining gaya ng zip line in Digos City.dinadayo ng karamihan yan di ba? pang -masa. suggestion lang. tnx.
@BrAvO SiX & Toinks.,,, Exactly, as of now we could not expect exclusive shops for high-end/elegant/top brands to come in. We could not force people to patronize it when they could not afford in the first place. So businessmen would really see to it that their product is affordable to many, rather few individuals. So let’s not too expectant of what we wanted to see in rob these days. I’m pretty sure, it will just come at the right time…
we are not creating antipathy here…we are just pointing out the reality. yup, there are few who can afford to buy these kind of brands in Gensan but there numbers shares only few percentage of the total populace of Gensan. and to think this few percentage can cope up the market expenses of these products against their purchases? nah! i don’t think so. do you think middle class and low income populace will buy (just to mention a few) a Lacoste polo shirt worth a $100 or so? a Diesel jeans worth $300 or so? or a Vuitton bag worth a grand or more in green bucks? ponder on this..
sa mga antagonists: never under estimate the buying power of the people of socsksargen area. maraming expats ang naka base dyan. those expats working in multi national companies. these companies are having their operations base in the region. the market doesnt only cover the metropolitan dadiangas area but the immediate surrounding provinces as well. 🙂
[…] The Grand Opening of Robinsons Place GenSan on October 5, 2009 should be one of the most anticipated events in the history of the Tuna Capital. This is judging from the countless comments that we got here in every blog post that we published about the mall and from the various forums, news articles, blog write-ups which tackled the issue prior to its inauguration. […]
oh yes i agree with you.di talaga kaya ng karamihan ang bumili ng ganong brands. isang taong buong sweldo ay kulang pa para sa isang vuitton na bag. so choose the best shop na lang. what gensan needs? eco park. stop taking massive land in gensan and turning it into concrete.
let’s face it…it’s no t feasible to put exclusive shops for high-end/elegant/top brands in Gensan like Hugo, Burberry, Lacoste, Armani, Louis Vuitton, Natali Cole, Salvatore Ferragamo, etc. am not degrading the capabilities of these malls in Gensan to put that kind of shops, yes they can do it, but considering the market? i doubt if it will last. these brands are not cheap…the aim of these malls are for the masses.. they market products that is affordable, indigenous, and right for the community.
exclusive shops are for rich and famous…and that’s the fact..!
grabeh talaga magsalita c arami. hez degrading our place..

Pero madami pa rin tao sa KCC kahapon pero medyo mahina ang GAISANO kahapon… how much more mag open na lahat stores sa ROB ngayon (except sa MOVIEWORLD)…
Fierce COMPETITION talaga ‘to!
Soon! meron na ring SM and possibly NCCC later! BONGGA Ever na talaga ang GENSAN… Not only that, marami pang papasok na investments dito sa GENSAN with the opening of ROB! GO GO GO!
Magandang GENSAN na talaga!
Wow magandang gensan sa lahat!
ang galing!
3 malls in Gensan… magkakaroon ng fierce competition nito..
hehehehehe… let’s see who will attract more customers and survive..
brace yourselves generals..
GANDA SO MUCH EVER….
Gonna be there 4 sure! Nakapunta na rin ako sa wakas sa ROB kanina! hehehe!
Wow, good luck for tom!
